Fried ice cream

Cooking time: 1-4mins
Serves: 2 people

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of White Bread
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup veg oil
  • 4 tbsp chocolate ice cream (any flavour you like)
  • cling film
  • icing or any topping

Fried ice cream is very popular in Phuket, South Thailand. When I was studying in the university, all the friends in the gang always go to this little shop for Fried ice cream. I always wonder how did they do it but never find the answer and I only start to learn to cook this after I moved to UK, because I missing the taste of it! hope you like it!

Method

  1. Break the egg into the bowl and mixed it up, use to glue the bread later on.
  2. Flat the bread till very thin with the rolling pin, do all of them.
  3. Now take ice cream out from the freezer and put it on the flat bread and use the egg to glue it before wrapping the bread around it.
  4. Now wrap cling film around the bread and immediately put it back in the freezer (do the the rest of the bread and ice cream). Now we got 4 balls of ice cream bread.
  5. Leave it in the freezer minimum 1 hour before take out of the freezer.
  6. Add the veg oil in a deep fry pan or small deep pot, and put on the high heat before frying.
  7. Fry for less than 1 minute until the bread turns golden and brown, then take out and place in a bowl. it will be very crispy and yummy.
  8. You can finish it up with icing or any other topping.
